We All Love Surveys
I just came across a new "tag" survey. Here are the questions. Instead of "tagging" someone via email, just put your completed list on the comments page so we can all enjoy it. To streamline responses, EITHER choose only books of the Bible OR list books other than the Bible [otherwise we'll ALL have "Bible" listed under favorite book].
1. One book that changed your life.
2. One book that you’ve read more than once.
3. One book you’d want on a desert island.
4. One book that made you laugh.
5. One book that made you cry.
6. One book you wish had been written.
7. One book you wish had never been written.
8. One book you’re currently reading.
9. One book you've been meaning to read.

8. Being Conversant with the Emergent Church by Carson
9. One of the approx 15 books my mom or brother has given me that I haven't read yet.
John Paul Jones' Biography made you laugh?
Yes, I thought it was hilarious at many points I laughed out loud, but I may have been manic then. I'm still considering devoting my life to bringing it to film.
1. Changed my life...
"The Doctrine of the Knowledge of God", John Frame - even though I didn't read the whole thing!
2. Read more than once...
"Longing to Know", Esther Lightcap Meek
3. Want on a desert Island...
Well, assuming that nobody wants to hear the "pious" answer, I'd say "The City of God", St. Augustine of HIppo
4. Made me laugh...
The Gospel According to Luke
5. Made me cry...
The Gospel According to Luke
6. Wish had been written...
"Everything You Ever, Ever Need to Know in Easy to Read Charts and The Answers to All Your Problems in Color Illustrations"
7. Wish had never been written...
"Thus Spake Zarathustra", Freidrich Nietzsche
8. Currently reading...
Class notes in prep for finals (Does that count? They're certainly long enough...)
9. Been meaning to read...
"The Next Reformation: Why Evangelicals Must Embrace Post Modernity", Carl Raschke
I tell you what, Ian, when I get through the Augustine bio, then I'll read "Confessions". But "City of God"? Maybe if I was on a desert island...or if I was as young as you. ;)
Btw, is that a pic of you or Jack from "LOST"? I know they say people start to look like their dogs...but can they also start to look like favorite TV/movie characters? Maybe you've noticed my increasing resemblence to Angelina Jolie's grandmother? (I'm afraid that's probably the best I can do. ;)
Beth-
Piper didn't make your list? I'm shocked!
Actually, haven't read much Piper lately- but yes T"he Pleasures of God" rivals "Knowledge of the Holy"
